Political Apathy and Social Injustice - Different Terms, Same Root

"We cannot fight evil, without first identifying it." - Dennis Prager said today, March 3, 2015.  I will add to Mr. Prager's quote with my own ideological twist by saying, "We cannot fight evil, unless we first OVERCOME THE FEAR of identifying it." - (Roseshel Garriott, 3/3/15, inspired by Dennis Prager).

As I ponder this idea, the words of Martin Niemöller, a German Lutheran pastor (who lived during the rise of Hitler and his Nazi party) echo in my heart.  These were his words:

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

These are only some of the dangers of political apathy.  I once heard another analogy that is similar, that pertains to a snake in your garden.  When you see the poisonous snake in your garden, do you leave it be?  Or do you kill it or place it elsewhere....FAR from your home where your defenseless, sleeping child awaits?  Will a poisonous snake stop being a poisonous snake just because you wish it or because you call it by another name?  I think not.

It does not have to be political...it can be social injustices in your own neighborhood or in your own community!

Christian, do not fear getting involved.  God commands it...

Proverbs 24:11-12:

If you falter in a time of trouble,
    how small is your strength!
11 Rescue those being led away to death;
hold back those staggering toward slaughter.
12 If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,”
does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?
Does not he who guards your life know it?
Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done?

Take a stand against evil and know you did the right thing...these people did:
